Galway County Council Tenant Purchase Scheme 2011

Galway County Council has announced a new fixed term tenant purchase scheme which was outlined in this year’s national budget. This scheme will offer discounts of up to 45% on the market price of houses.

It applies to long standing tenants of more than 10 years, giving them the opportunity to buy their own homes from the council at a reduced rate. The market price will be determined by the local authority, taking into account the existing state of repair and condition of the house. Discounts are offered at 3% of the value of the house for each year of tenancy up to a maximum of 15 years.  

We are informed that the scheme is only in place for 2011 and applications will be accepted up to the 31st December 2011. Persons wishing to apply for the scheme must fill out an application form and send it into the Galway County Council.
